Welcome back to 'Solar Ireland 18'- the official Irish Solar Energy Association (ISEA) annual conference. This year marks a historical significance for solar in Ireland as Government announced its first ever support for the industry in the form of a Renewable Electricity Support System (RESS). The signal to market is strong, the future is bright and prosperous for those that have invested time and energy in developing projects in recent years.
The 2017 conference proved to be a highlight in the solar calendar for networking and education. The 2018 event will be even bigger and host an array of first class speakers with sessions including RESS/policy, market, grid, finance, community. In addition, due to industry demand, we have added 2 new sessions around data centres and commercial rooftops.
July also saw an announcement of a new micro generation scheme to support domestic customers who install solar PV panels on their homes to be administered by SEAI. This pilot scheme will support the installation of solar PV panels for the generation and self-consumption of renewable electricity. The systems will be grant aided and there will be additional grants available to those who install battery storage to capture the electricity they generate for use later. To support this initiative, ISEA are excited to announce a one-day installer event (27th November) which will run in parallel to the main event and cover topics such as market, rooftop and storage, standards, training, manufacturing and installation. We expect this event to provide an invaluable opportunity for installers to understand the industry opportunity and what is needed to ensure solar success. In addition, installers will have the opportunity to network with developers, manufacturers, policy advisors and other major players during refreshment breaks.
Over 2 days you will hear from industry experts from home and abroad, across the supply chain, on how a successful solar industry in Ireland will be transformative in job creation and investment. Solar Ireland will be a virtual roadmap to where the opportunities and challenges are. Solar Ireland 18 will be host to the who’s who of the best and brightest minds on all matters solar. I urge you to register your attendance and guarantee your place at this energetic and lively debate.
The presentations will be grouped into key themes which collectively will provide complete coverage of the solar industry in Ireland.
